Dressage
To be shown in - hand at the walk and trot on the triangle. Judges for suitability to become dressage horses. To be scored 60% for movement, 30% for conformation, and 10% general impression.

Jumping
The confirmation of the horse is judged, as well as their movement and soundness. The horse is not ridden in the model class, but rather led with a bridle.

Halter
Is designed to reflect the perfection of the horse. In Halter Classes, the Horse is being evaluated, not the Handler, as in the Showmanship Classes. The Handler should look neat and be dressed appropriately but is not required to wear a hat, boots or a long-sleeved shirt. Show halters or Leather halters are complimentary to the horse. The cleanliness of the tack and of course, the horse, are crucial in any class. The horse does not have to be body clipped, but making certain that there is a clean throat latch for a clean line and that the ears have been trimmed is very important in presenting a horse. Hooves should be well-trimmed and may be polished. Conformation, Way-Of-Going, and Overall Presentation in that order are Judged in Halter Classes.

Obstacle Halter
Obstacle courses are the equivalent to trail classes in large horses. Typical obstacles are bridges, mailboxes, cones, scary objects, cavaletti, back through and sidepass poles and many other things dreamed up by the show manager and course designer. Horses must be at least one year old for obstacle halter. Classes will be judged 100% on the manner of horse’s performance through the course. There is a sixty second time limit to complete each obstacle. After time is used, the exhibitor will be directed to the next obstacle. Refusals of three (3)obstacles shall be cause for disqualification.

Showmanship At Halter (English & Western)
It is designed to judge the showmanship skills of the exhibitors. Judges evaluate the grooming and fitting of the horse, and expertise of the exhibitor in presenting the horse. Each exhibitor is required to perform a pattern designed by the Judge with emphasis on preciseness of pattern and degree of confidence exhibited by the showman.

Liberty
Liberty is a class that was designed to demonstrate the natural beauty of the Miniature Horse when it is free of any restraints. The horse is judged by it's natural style, grace, action, spirit, and ease of catching. The liberty horse is judged on its trot and canter, but any bucking certainly adds to the performance!

Essentially, the horse is led into the ring alone by its handler and the handler's assistant. At NO TIME is the assistant ever allowed to touch the horse. The exhibitor waits until their selected music starts, and the halter is slipped from the horse's head. At that time, both the exhibitor and assistant encourage the horse to trot and canter and are allowed to use either whips or shaker bottles. At no time is the horse allowed to be touched when it is running free, even by the tip of the whip. Also, if the horse falls, the entry is disqualified. After one-and-one-half minutes of music, the music is stopped, and the exhibitor must then catch the horse and re-halter it within two minutes or be disqualified.
